Wolves could stand in way of Paixao to Leeds United in latest transfer twist

Leeds United have been chasing Igor Paixao throughout the summer transfer window.

Paixao has shone in the Eredivisie for Feyenoord and registered 26 goal contributions – including 18 goals of his own – in the division last season.

Leeds have been battling Marseille for Paixao’s signature, with Daniel Farke determined to upgrade his attacking line-up.

However, the Yorkshire club may now be dependent on Wolves if they want to complete the deal this summer.

Roma chasing both Paixao and Wolves’ Fabio Silva

On top of Leeds and Marseille, Roma are also interested in Paixao as the 25-year-old’s stock grows.

It was reported on Friday (25 July) that Farke’s side have placed a new bid for Paixao after the Ligue 1 team failed to get the deal over the line after negotiations in a late transfer twist.

However, the deal is yet to be finalised, and Roma could still jump in to attempt to hijack the transfer.

Now, according to Gianluca Di Marzio (24 July), the Serie A outfit are considering both Paixao and Wolves’ Fabio Silva to strengthen their attack.

Roma have made contact with the Old Gold side about a potential move for the Portuguese international.

However, if this deal is not finalised, they may look to make an official move for Paixao.

The Brazilian is likely to be more attracted to Roma, especially with the capital side now having Atalanta legend Gian Piero Gasperini as their new manager.

As a result, Leeds could be relying on Wolves to sell Silva to the Serie A outfit to ensure there is no further competition for his signature.

Leeds need to finalise Paixao deal as soon as possible

Given how good Paixao is and the interest surrounding him, it is vital that Leeds finalise the deal as soon as possible.

It feels inevitable that another team is going to attempt to hijack the deal, and this cannot be allowed to happen.

Paixao had a great 2024/25 campaign

After weeks of pursuing Paixao, it would be unacceptable if Farke‘s side were to miss out on the winger now.

Hopefully the bid for the Brazilian will be quickly accepted, and the 25-year-old will be holding up a Leeds shirt at Elland Road by next week.
