Wilson agrees terms with West Ham – Three strikers Leeds could sign instead

Leeds United might have to begin looking elsewhere after the latest on Callum Wilson.

The Whites were interested in signing free agent Wilson this summer after his contract with Newcastle United expired at the end of last season.

However, it seems that a move to Elland Road is not on the cards with West Ham pulling ahead in the race.

As a result, the recently promoted side will need to look at alternative targets to give themselves the best chance of survival in the Premier League.

Rodrigo Muniz – Fulham

Fulham striker Rodrigo Muniz is believed to be Leeds’ number one target to become the club’s leading frontman next season.

The Whites hold the Brazilian in high regard; however, he reportedly could cost up to an eye-watering £50million this summer.

Last season, he scored 11 goals and provided two assists in all competitions for Fulham and could reach larger heights under the right manager. His raw physicality, eye for goal and bursts of technical skill make him an attractive option for any club this summer.

With Wilson heading to the London Stadium, it would be unsurprising if Leeds attempt to make his signing a reality in the coming days.

Mehdi Taremi – Inter Milan

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport (23 July, pg 4), Mehdi Taremi could be on the move again after struggling at Serie A side Inter Milan.

Leeds are believed to be keen on his transfer and have made an approach for the Iranian forward. Porto are also keen on a reunion, but the finances involved could become an obstacle, with several other teams monitoring the situation.

While the 33-year-old is not a typical Leeds signing, his time at Porto could offer some valuable experience. The striker netted 91 goals and provided 56 assists in 182 appearances for the Portuguese side and could still have some fuel left in the tank.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin – free agent

Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s exit from Everton opened up a door for Leeds to consider a move before the upcoming season commences.

The centre-forward has been linked with several clubs since his departure, including Manchester United and AC Milan. However, Leeds have the means to snap him up if the right opportunity presents itself.

After netting three times in 26 Premier League appearances next season, Leeds have been urged to seek another option.

However, with countless years of experience in the Premier League, the opportunity to sign Calvert-Lewin on a free transfer could be too good to pass up.
