View: Leeds United must avoid Ross Barkley in January

Leeds United must avoid signing Chelsea flop, Ross Barkley, amid January transfer links.

Leeds are reported to be interested in the England international on a loan-to-buy basis [TeamTalk] in an attempt to make their squad more robust as they battle injuries and covid.

Chelsea are looking to move Barkley on permanently after failing to live up to expectations since joining from Everton which saw the 28-year-old forced out on loan to Aston Villa.

Under no circumstance

You can see why the links have been made between Barkley and the Whites. He is an experienced Premier League player with a few more years left in the tank who is still able to make an impact as seen at Aston Villa.

He is a senior player who has played for Leeds before and could give Leeds vital squad depth that has been lacking this season which is why the rumours have circulated.

These seem like lazy rumours though. There is not one ounce of Barkley that would suit playing under Marcelo Bielsa. He simply doesn’t work hard enough on or off the ball which is vital at Elland Road – not to mention the question marks surrounding his attitude, something Bielsa would not take lightly.

Barkley would be also likely to demand high wages and, in all honesty, he isn’t worth it.

There is no doubt he is a great player but not one that would seem to suit Leeds.
