View: Leeds United made right call with Marcelo Bielsa and Jesse Marsch

Leeds United made the right decision sacking Marcelo Bielsa for Jesse Marsch because the American will take the Whites to new heights.

Understandably, the sacking of the Argentinian club legend sent shockwaves throughout the fanbase, but it will be a decision looked back on in years to come as the catalyst for a new era at Leeds.

The American still has a to of work to do in order to get the team playing well consistently but there is one statistic that shows Marsch is the right man for the job.

In his four Premier League matches in charge, the Whites have had an xG of 2.07 per game, the most of any side in the Premier League, as per Leeds Live.

Imagine what he could do with time and the right players.

Tough but right

It was extremely difficult to let Bielsa go for the Leeds fans. He was the man to make the supporters fall back in love with the team and unite the club and city once again.

Completely transforming every single player and earning Premier League promotion for the first time in 16 years will see the Argentine go down in Leeds history and rightly so.

However, this season was increasingly difficult and whilst a lot of it was out of Bielsa’s control, he only has himself to blame.

His refusal to change the system whilst not having the players to execute it properly was what saw him sacked and it is hard to say but Leeds are now better off.

Marsch has come in and done very well under extremely difficult circumstances. Not many gave him after his disaster spell at RB Leipzig, but the 48-year-old has done a good job of proving the doubters wrong – so far.

Bar any last-minute capitulations, the Whites look to have secured topflight safety for next season and it will be very interesting to see how the new boss does.

In other Leeds United news, Patrick Bamford will be back “stronger” according to David Prutton.
