Tyler Adams set to hand Leeds ‘ultimate betrayal’ amid latest transfer update

Tyler Adams could hand Leeds United supporters another reason to dislike him in the near future.

Leeds fans booed Adams when he returned to Elland Road with Bournemouth in September, after leaving the Yorkshire outfit in 2023.

The Whites fans will surely hate Adams even more if he makes a move to Manchester United, as he has now been linked with the Old Trafford club be journalist Ben Jacobs.

Speaking on the United Stand podcast on 11 December, he said: “A new name that Manchester United are looking at at the moment is Tyler Adams, who is doing very well at Bournemouth.

And there is a possibility that Tyler Adams moves in 2026. As far as I’m aware, it would be more for the summer rather than anything leading up to a big World Cup and a home World Cup for him.”

Leeds vs Manchester United rivalry explained

Leeds and the Red Devils have a heated rivalry, that dates back to the tensions between the counties of Lancashire and Yorkshire.

Footballing hostilities increased in the 1970s when hooliganism was on the rise, and the intensity has remained since then, despite the sides playing in different divisions for a lot of their recent history.

Many Leeds supporters still consider the rivalry to be their most intense, especially now that the sides are back in the same division.

What players have moved between Leeds and Man United previously?

The most controversial transfer between the sides was probably when United signed Rio Ferdinand from Leeds in 2002.

The defender made the £30million switch to Old Trafford, despite being appointed as the Whites’ captain, and is still despised by the Leeds faithful to this day.

Alan Smith was another who made the move, after claiming that he would never play for Sir Alex Ferguson’s side due to his loyalty to his boyhood club.

The attacker was an academy graduate but had no issue moving across the Pennines to their arch-rivals, but it has since been revealed that United were the only club he was allowed to join, as they were offering the money up front.

Eric Cantona was another high-profile transfer between the sides, with the talented Frenchman crossing the divide in November 1992.

He handed in a transfer request after being dropped by Howard Wilkinson, joining the LS11 outfit’s fiercest rivals in a controversial switch.

Adams would be the latest player to do so, and would likely destroy his reputation with the supporters, even more than he already has.
