Trai Hume to Leeds United now surely dead as new development emerges
Leeds United and their defence have been one of the major talking points of the summer transfer window thus far.
The Whites have been linked with a plethora of talent and endured a seemingly never-ending saga when bringing Joe Rodon back to Elland Road.
Although the Rodon deal has now been sorted, Daniel Farke is still lacking depth in the right-back role.
Luke Ayling, Cody Drameh, Jamie Shackleton, and Archie Gray have all departed the club this summer and when called upon, each player was more often than not deployed in right-back.
This left Leeds without anyone aside from Sam Byram who could be used in that area of the pitch.
So, as you’d expect, the West Yorkshire outfit have been linked with many players including Sunderland starlet, Trai Hume.
For a deal to be struck, however, Farke was informed it would cost at least £10million [Belfast Telegraph, 19 July] to pry him away from the Stadium of Light.
That fee never really felt feasible and, after it was announced by John Percy on Saturday (20 July) that the Whites have now agreed to a £5m deal, for Sheffield United ace Jayden Bogle, the move for Hume feels completely dead in the water.
Jayden Bogle is a better choice of right-back for Leeds United than Trai Hume
Bogle is just 23 years old and already has a vast amount of Premier League experience and that’s not to mention the fact that he’s going to cost Leeds half of what Hume would.
Sure, the Northern Ireland international is a year younger than Bogle but, in the grand scheme of things, a year means very little.
Bogle is a solid addition to Leeds’ lineup and one that could end up being a shrewd piece of business come the end of the season.

He can be used as a wing-back or a full-back so his versatility can provide Farke with tactical changes if he desires and will no doubt help shore up Leeds’ defensive line.
Although the deal for Hume is now seemingly in the mud, this doesn’t mean that another team won’t swoop in for him.
It just means that with the addition of Bogle, it’s hard to see why Leeds would need to also bring in Hume this summer.
