Timo Werner’s top five goals as Leeds make late transfer approach from Elland Road
Leeds are said to be interested in signing RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner.
The German has had limited success in the Premier League, in stints with Chelsea and Tottenham, notching a total of 12 goals and 20 assists.
Leeds are in desperate need of attacking reinforcements, as Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha are not reliable starting options.
Leeds could bring Werner back to the English game as the 49ers search for a solution to their woes in the market, with an approach now made.

With that in mind, MOT Leeds News has found Werner’s five best goals from his career so far.
RB Leipzig 3-1 Union Berlin – 18 January 2020
Werner has proven that he can score big goals, and Leeds need that if they are to stay in the Premier League.
Leipzig were 1-0 down when Werner stepped up and scored a potential goal of the season contender in the 2019/20 season.
He took the ball first time on the edge of the penalty area and released a thunderous volley into the top corner to level proceedings.
The forward would add another to his tally as his side went on to secure a 3-1 victory.
Chelsea 3-3 Southampton – 17 October 2020
Werner scored a brace against the Saints in a 3-3 draw at Stamford Bridge in the 2020/21 campaign.
The German had already notched an opener, with a cool finish after it had initially looked like he had gone too wide and dallied on the ball too long.
His second was spectacular as he received the ball on his chest from Jorginho’s long pass, flicked it over Alex McCarthy and headed into the empty net to bag his second of the contest.
It was a remarkable display of skill and composure.
North Macedonia 0-4 Germany – 11 October 2021
Werner bagged a brace for his country in a comprehensive win over North Macedonia.
He had already hammered home one strike before he picked up the ball just inside the box and curled a beautiful strike past the goalkeeper.
It was a lovely finish that Farke will hope he can replicate if he signs for the LS11 outfit.
Southampton 0-6 Chelsea – 9 April 2022
Werner had hit the post and the crossbar already in the St Mary’s clash, but refused to give up and eventually got his reward.
He then ran onto a poor header back from James Ward-Prowse from his own half and rounded Fraser Forster, and finished from a tight angle.
The German would add another as he tapped in after the goalkeeper had tipped N’Golo Kante’s chip away.
Borussia Monchengladbach 0-1 RB Leipzig – 23 September 2023
Werner came on and scored the only goal of the game to seal a win for Leipzig.
He took advantage of a deflection, got onto the ball and took it around the goalkeeper and bent the ball home from a wicked angle.
It was another example of Werner at his clinical best and was one of only two goals that he scored in eight Bundesliga appearances in the 2023/24 season.
He would need to be more consistent if he is to thrive at Elland Road, but he has the talent to keep the Whites up if he can get back to his best.
