Bielsa could unleash Leeds secret weapon v Derby, 20y/o could be next PL star – MOT View

Marcelo Bielsa is a man of integrity and we fully expect him to put his strongest Leeds United XI out for the rest of the season.

He’ll also want to see the players that have put in the hard yards this season run out to celebrate being crowned champions at Pride Park today.

However, an injury to Helder Costa picked up in the 1-0 win against Barnsley gives him the perfect opportunity to unleash Leeds’ secret weapon today.

Ian Poveda signed in January and has made two appearances for the club – both off the bench and both since lockdown.

He’s looked smart in both and he’s a right-winger who can slot straight in for Costa with no disruption to the rest of the team.

MOT Leeds News columnist Paul Robinson was impressed with what he saw on Poveda’s debut.

He said, “One real bright spark for me was Ian Poveda coming off the bench. He looked bright, sharp, he looked a real threat.

“I think he can be a real threat between now and the end of the season.”

Surely this is the perfect time to see exactly what he can do?

There’s no pressure on today and it means that Leeds can play with freedom and creativity.

We have high hopes for former Man City player Poveda next season and we think that this could give him the boost he needs to shine on the Premier League stage next season.

We’ve seen Poveda dazzling with the Under-23s this season and one moment in particular makes us think that he could be the next breakthrough star for Leeds in the Premier League.

Poveda put in some eye-catching skill and pace to set-up this goal for Bobby Kamwa back in March.

If Bielsa does start Povedas today it will be a big hint that he’s set to play a major role for Leeds next season.

We’d love to see him on the pitch at Pride Park today.
