Three managers that 49ers could hire at Leeds United as Daniel Farke sack contingency revealed

The 49ers are already planning for life after Daniel Farke at Leeds United.

Paraag Marathe previously stated that Farke was under no immediate threat of being sacked at Leeds, but if wins do not start coming, that stance will change.

It has since been revealed that the 49ers have contingency plans in place to replace Farke should things turn south at Elland Road.

With that in mind, MOT Leeds News takes a look at three managers who could replace him should he face the axe.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst to Leeds?

Despite achieving promotion from the Championship, there was a lot of talk about Farke being sacked at Leeds.

A lot of that stemmed from his dismal record in the Premier League prior, though the Whites opted to remain with the German.

However, Giovanni van Bronckhorst was sounded out by Leeds back in April, amid the growing concerns they had over Farke’s ability to transition into the top flight.

Van Bronckhorst’s record at Rangers

Van Bronckhorst has plenty of experience in British football, having spent a year with Rangers between 2021 and 2022.

The Dutchman is currently the assistant to Arne Slot at Liverpool, but would surely jump at the chance to manage in the Premier League.

Leeds were admirers of Davide Ancelloti

Van Bronckhorst wasn’t the only manager linked this year, with Davide Ancelotti, the son of Real Madrid’s Carlo Ancelotti, also mooted.

Back in April, Leeds were said to be admirers of Ancelotti, who had also attracted heavy interest from Rangers before they appointed Russell Martin.

That showcases that the 49ers are very keen on what he can bring, having sounded him out for both clubs under their ownership.

The 36-year-old is currently the manager of Botago in Brazil, but rumours are emerging that he could lose his job.

As expected, he has also been linked with Rangers again if Martin faces the sack, but Leeds could look to swoop in themselves.

Nuno Espirito Santo would be the perfect hire for 49ers

Nuno Santo held talks with Leeds after Jesse Marsch was sacked, and having succumbed to a similar fate at Nottingham Forest, the same calls have been made to bring him to Elland Road.

Santo took Forest into Europe last season, but he ultimately lost his job as a result of ongoing disagreements with the owner, Evangelos Marinakis.

Santo’s record in the Premier League

Now unemployed, he would surely welcome an immediate return to Premier League management, and he could be just what Leeds need to get to the next level, with many calling for that already.

Given his reputation in English football, several clubs will be thinking the same thing, but if the 49ers are serious about their ambition going forward, this would be the perfect way to showcase it.
