Spanish outlet makes bizarre claim about Diego Llorente

Spanish outlet elgoldigital has made a claim about Leeds United centre-back Diego Llorente that can only be described as bizarre.

They claim that the summer signing, who has suffered from multiple injuries this season, wants to leave Leeds because he hasn’t been playing enough.

Llorente came straight back into the Leeds first-team when he recovered from injury and has been looking solid at the back ever since.

The Spain centre-back has even made it into the most recent Spain squad, with compatriot Rodrigo missing out.

The report claims that Bielsa’s system keeps relegating the player to the bench, which suggests that the journalist hasn’t really been doing his homework.

It claims what is making Llorente’s time difficult at Leeds is “the technical decision on the part of the Argentine coach. It is to continue relegating him to the bench.”

It also claims that Real Betis want to sign him.

Hmm. Thankfully, the report is just so odd that it doesn’t alarm us in the slightest.

Fans never want to hear about players wanting to leave but this just doesn’t stack up on any level.

Llorente has only been on the bench three times for Leeds, once after he signed, and the other two times after returning from injury.

He’s shown an enthusiasm for the club that’s seen him watch the Amazon documentary, which in turn made him yearn to experience the “full” Elland Road experience. [Yorkshire Evening Post]

Llorente now has the chance to make the centre-back spot his own, with Liam Cooper out with illness and Robin Koch still returning from injury.

He’s already shown an eye for a pass that has impressed us and we think he’ll start chipping in with some valuable assists soon, as well as keeping things tight at the back.

And we don’t think he wants to go anywhere.
