Sky Sports make Championship fixtures vow in Leeds United statement
Leeds United supporters will be on the whole delighted following the latest from Sky Sports regarding fixture broadcasting.
Matchgoing fans at Elland Road have publicly voiced their displeasure with the broadcaster for late rescheduling of live TV matches in the past, severely affecting travel and accommodation plans.
Sky Sports and the EFL have agreed a gargantuan £935m multi-year TV rights deal to broadcast more matches from the 2024-25 season, with Leeds often a very popular choice for Sky due to their magnificent level of support.
Leeds United confirmed on their official website [3 July] the live matches to be broadcast up until the end of September, and further announced that the EFL will confirm the dates and kick-off times of all rescheduled matches up until early January before the new campaign begins.
“The EFL have made a commitment to announce all league TV fixtures up until early January before the league season gets underway,” the Leeds statement read. “This will take the list selected up to the Emirates FA Cup Third Round ties.”
Leeds United fans to be pleased by Sky Sports and EFL move
Leeds supporters have been projecting their feelings for a long time surrounding Sky and the EFL’s short notice of rescheduling matches, leading the matchgoing fanbase to accuse broadcasters and league organisations of prioritising TV viewers over those in the stands each week.
Late interventions prior to the whopping new deal announced this summer left supporters of many clubs, but most notably Leeds, reeling from wasting money and time on obsolete logistical plans.
Whilst TV revenue has long provided lucrative foundations to clubs, the Whites found themselves rescheduled more than any other EFL club last season.

Whilst there will continue to be backlash against Sky from sections of the Elland Road faithful, this is a proactive move which shows progress from the broadcaster.
Leeds will be hoping this is merely a concern for the following 12 months, with promotion to the Premier League the clear aim for Daniel Farke’s side.
For now, fans can at least get plans in place up to the start of 2025 once the next batch of fixtures are announced before the new season begins.
