Sebastian Bornauw’s future at Leeds comes clear as Bundesliga outfit hold talks

Sebastian Bornauw had been heavily linked with an exit from Leeds United.

Leeds are yet to make a signing in January, despite the window having been open for two weeks.

However, the Whites have seen several players linked with an exit from Elland Road, some of which appear far more likely than others.

Harry Gray looks set to join Rotherham United on loan for the rest of the campaign, while Willy Gnonto has been linked with a move to Milan.

Earlier in the window, Bornauw was linked with an exit from Leeds, but after the latest update from Germany, he may not be going anywhere.

FC Koln hold talks over transfer

Bornauw has hardly featured for Leeds this season, and he only got his chance to showcase his worth when Joe Rodon was sidelined with injury.

FC Koln wanted to take the Belgian defender back to the Bundesliga, with it claimed earlier in the window that he was seen as a priority signing.

Given the experience he has of playing in Germany and the physical nature of his game, it was clear why they would want to pursue a deal, though it appears as though they may be looking elsewhere now.

That is because Fabrizio Romano has reported that Koln have already initiated talks to sign Como’s Stefan Posch in January.

Given the fact that Posch is a right-footed centre-back, it’s highly likely that he would be seen as an alternative for Bornauw.

If so, his time at Elland Road could stretch beyond the current window, though it will no doubt come back into question in the summer.

Who else could leave Leeds this month?

Aside from Gray’s loan move to Rotherham, the Whites also look set to sanction another January exit, this time in the form of Jack Harrison.

Fiorientina look set to sign Harrison, who failed to stake a claim for his place under Daniel Farke despite being handed a start in the FA Cup win over Derby County.

If that deal were to go through, it would be a loan move with the Serie A outfit holding the option to make it a permanent transfer.

The 29-year-old has started just once for the Whites in the Premier League this season, with just 263 minutes of football played.

Joel Piroe has interest, but his exit seems unlikely unless Leeds were to sign another striker in the next few weeks.
