Sebastiaan Bornauw surplus to requirements as Daniel Farke wants new Leeds United transfer

Daniel Farke is already planning for a future without Sebastiaan Bornauw at Leeds United.

The Belgium international has struggled for regular game time at Elland Road this season, with Joe Rodon, Jaka Bijol and Pascal Struijk ahead of him in the pecking order.

James Justin has also been deployed in the back three on occasions, giving the German manager plenty of defensive options at the West Yorkshire outfit.

It wouldn’t be surprising to see the former VfL Wolfsburg centre-back push for a move away in the summer for more opportunities elsewhere, and the Peacocks may reinforce his stance.

Leeds United want new left-sided defender in summer window

Leeds have plans to bolster their defence with a left-footed defender in the upcoming transfer window, according to TEAMtalk.

The news outlet reports on 13 February that the Whites want to sign a player capable of covering at centre-half and left-back.

It’s been claimed that the lack of a natural left-footed defender means the Elland Road hierarchy have plans to strengthen in that area.

Struijk is the only defender currently in that bracket, and it makes sense for the West Yorkshire outfit to add depth in that area.

What that means for Bornauw remains to be seen, but it’s likely that he may face even more competition for a place in the starting lineup.

With the Belgian defender surely aiming to get back into the national team setup, he surely won’t want to be a benchwarmer in LS11 any longer.

Daniel Farke evidently happy with one area of squad at Elland Road

Leeds’ public pursuit of Jorgen Strand Larsen failed in the winter transfer window after he signed for Crystal Palace from Wolves.

It’s clear that the Whites are thinking about adding more quality up front despite Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha’s current form.

Another area the West Yorkshire outfit could potentially strengthen is the goalkeeping department, with Lucas Perri dropped in recent matches for Karl Darlow.

The midfield seems to be the one area Farke is evidently happy with, and why not, considering he has Ethan Ampadu, Anton Stach, Ilia Gruev, Sean Longstaff and Ao Tanaka at his disposal.
