Ruben Vargas to Leeds United edges close after £8.6m development at Elland Road

Daniel Farke will surely be expecting a massive push from Leeds United to sign Sevilla forward Ruben Vargas in the winter transfer window.

The Whites have gone into January comfortably ahead of the relegation zone, but they arguably can’t take their foot off the gas and should look to strengthen their squad.

Vargas has been heavily linked with a move to Elland Road, with the West Yorkshire outfit considering making a bid for the 27-year-old.

Farke’s tactical changes have brought the best out of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, and the German manager could potentially have another quality attacker at his disposal soon.

Jack Harrison exit opens door for Ruben Vargas deal at Leeds United

Jack Harrison is on his way to Fiorentina, with the initial loan deal including a buy option worth £8.6million.

The Englishman failed to win back the Elland Road faithful after returning from his loan spell at Everton, and the 29-year-old’s exit feels best for both parties.

With Harrison’s exit imminent, the Whites now clearly have an opportunity to enter the market and strengthen their attack.

Vargas has caught many people’s attention since moving to Sevilla in January 2025 and has continued to be the LaLiga club’s talisman this season.

The versatile forward, who has 58 caps for Switzerland, has scored three goals and provided four assists in 13 league appearances this season, and his possible move to West Yorkshire may have edged closer.

While Calvert-Lewin, Noah Okafor and Lukas Nmecha have impressed recently, it wouldn’t hurt to have another talented attacker in the squad.

49ers Enterprises to cause rage at Elland Road

Harrison’s exit evidently opens the door for new signings at Elland Road, and 49ers Enterprises must make moves in the coming weeks.

Leeds fans have wanted more from the American owners and have been let down in the past, but the same can’t happen this time.

It’s entirely possible the Whites won’t sign anyone in the winter transfer window, leaving supporters in LS11 raging.

There have been no signs of any incomings in West Yorkshire so far, and the situation will be one to keep an eye on.
