Rodrigo can fire Leeds United to Premier League safety as he returns to scoresheet in win at Wolves
By Matthew Chadder
Rodrigo Moreno netted in the dying moments in Leeds United’s 4-2 win over Wolves at Molineux at the weekend as his return from injury provides his side with a boost in their relegation fight
It is set to be one of the tightest relegation battles in Premier League history with just four points separating 12th and 20th place in the standings, and Leeds will hope to keep their Spanish star fit until the end of the season.
Rodrigo was injured during his side’s FA Cup clash with Accrington Stanley on 28 January and returned against Brighton on 11 March.

In that time Leeds scored just three goals in seven matches, which proves just how crucial Rodrigo is to the club’s attacking threat.
His 11th league goal of the season in the relegation six-pointer with Wolves sealed all three points for the West Yorkshire outfit as Javi Gracia looks to guide Leeds to a fourth consecutive season in the Premier League.
Rodrigo’s return crucial
The relegation battle will seemingly be going down to the wire this year and all clubs involved will need to keep their stars fit and firing.
Few stars shine brighter than Rodrigo in the relegation scrap, with the second striker scoring more league goals than any other player outside the top nine in the Premier League.
He is Leeds’ top scorer this season and according to stats provided by transfermarkt he has had a hand in 34% of Leeds’ league goals in 2022/23, demonstrating just how crucial his contributions are.

This is despite playing just 1,353 minutes for Leeds, which is just 56% of the club’s total league minutes.
Fans will hope the 32-year-old isn’t forced to spend any more time on the sidelines this season as they sit just two points above the dreaded drop zone and will need all hands on deck.
With a trip to the Emirates and clashes with relegation rivals Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace on the horizon, Rodrigo will need to continue to show that goal-scoring hunger he has displayed all year.
In other Leeds United news, Ben Foster was blown away by one Whites player in the recent league victory at Wovles.
