Raheem Sterling to take Leeds transfer risk after what Pep Guardiola has said

Leeds United have been linked with a blockbuster move for Chelsea forward Raheem Sterling in the winter transfer window.

Daniel Farke is hoping to avoid Premier League relegation this season, and the addition of goals up front will certainly help him achieve that goal.

Sterling has now emerged as a target at Elland Road ahead of January, and while it may seem like a tough deal for the Whites to pull off, it could potentially be on the cards.

While the England international hasn’t had the best of spells in recent years, having been exiled by Enzo Maresca and an underwhelming loan stint at Arsenal, he’ll still arguably be hoping to play European football at his next club.

Raheem Sterling not afraid anymore amid Leeds United rumours

Sterling’s best football probably came under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, winning four Premier League titles.

The 30-year-old had a slow start to his spell at the Etihad Stadium after joining the Sky Blues from Liverpool in 2015, but the former Barcelona manager’s arrival changed everything.

For a few years, the Englishman turned into a prolific goalscorer for Man City, with the Spanish boss boiling that down to his fearlessness.

Speaking about Sterling in 2017, Guardiola said, “You won’t survive in the high-level teams in his position if you don’t score goals. And now he’s seeing how fun, how good it is, to score goals. I think he’s enjoying scoring goals, he’s not scared, he’s not afraid to take a risk.”

While the Champions League-winning manager is talking about the 82-cap England international’s goalscoring, it can also be interpreted as him being willing to take risks in his career.

With Premier League relegation looking likely at Elland Road right now, Sterling may have the appetite to pull off something special with the West Yorkshire outfit on a short-term deal.

Noah Okafor just got some bad news at Elland Road

Noah Okafor’s attitude has been questioned away from Elland Road, with his dispute with Switzerland’s management continuing.

Leeds signed the 25-year-old from AC Milan in the summer, and he’s put in some decent performances this season, although his mettle will surely be tested if Sterling arrives in LS11.

The Chelsea forward will definitely want to be one of the first names on the teamsheet at the Whites if they sign him, which could potentially be bad news for Okafor, who plays on the left-wing.

While a move for the former Man City star seems like a long shot at Elland Road, his situation will certainly be one to keep an eye on.
