Premier League’s delayed announcement disrespects Leeds fans, it’s completely unacceptable
Leeds United fans, along with every other group of supporters, already have it tough when attempting to follow their team.
Rising ticket and travel costs make supporting your team more troublesome every single year, and promotion to the Premier League has not fixed the issue.
Leeds beat West Ham 2-1 on Friday in a game that was played at Elland Road, where season ticket prices rose again this season.
But, it is the away trips, like Leeds’ 2-0 loss to Burnley, that ultimately end up costing fans huge amounts of money due to absurdly expensive train tickets.
With that in mind, it does not help the situation when the Premier League delay their fixture announcements.

Premier League delay festive period announcements
The Premier League announced that four Leeds fixtures would be moved in December, with the news coming to the great annoyance of the match-going Whites.
Some fans would have already arranged their travel for the games, with the announcement forcing plans to change.
But there will be greater frustration over the fact that the Premier League is yet to announce which teams will be playing on Boxing Day, despite having been scheduled to on October 15.
The period surrounding Christmas is the most expensive time to travel, given the large number of people who return to and from home to celebrate the festivities.
With that in mind, it is crucial to make plans as soon as possible to avoid the astronomical train ticket and other prices that follow.
The Premier League has made those preparations impossible to make, however.
Fixtures up to 22 December have been announced, but, due to supposed “complexities”, no announcement has been made for fixtures between Christmas and New Year.
Leeds fans will be rightly outraged
Currently, Leeds are set to play Sunderland on 27 December, and Liverpool on 30 December – two away trips which will come at considerable cost to those who make them.
With every day that passes without the Premier League’s announcement on exact fixture times and dates, those costs rise significantly.
| Leeds United – fixtures | Confirmed date |
| Brighton (A) | 1 Nov |
| Nottingham Forest (A) | 9 Nov |
| Aston Villa (H) | 23 Nov |
| Manchester City (A) | 29 Nov |
| Chelsea (H) | 3 Dec |
| Liverpool (H) | 6 Dec |
| Brentford (A) | 14 Dec |
| Crystal Palace (H) | 21 Dec |
Already, Leeds fans face a huge price tag to purchase their travel, and those without the option of driving are set to be gouged by the train companies.
Even away from the costs, the delay has only made wider planning for the Christmas period tougher and more strenuous.
For travelling fans, it is unfortunately not a new experience to be placed last in the list of priorities by the people who make these decisions, but that does not make it any less of a disgrace.
