‘Patrick Bamford next’ as Leeds United exit now confirmed

Leeds have had a busy summer of incomings and are now turning their attention towards offloading some of their fringe players.

The Peacocks have added significantly to their backline, with the likes of Jaka Bijol and Gabriel Gudmundsson joining.

Attention in recent weeks has turned to adding more depth in more advanced areas of the pitch to Daniel Farke’s side.

With plenty of deadwood up front, the Whites have only added Lukas Nmecha to their forward line but could look to make further additions once they make some sales.

Patrick Bamford could leave next after Mateo Joseph’s exit

Patrick Bamford’s career in white has been turbulent and has been nearing an end over the last couple of seasons.

Last season, the striker barely featured, and Farke elected to play a mix of Joel Piroe and Mateo Joseph ahead of the Englishman.

With their 2025/26 Premier League campaign against Everton (18 August) now right around the corner, Farke’s side could be without two names up top.

That is because Joseph’s exit has now been announced.

The Spaniard has been pushing for a move away this summer, and Leeds United have officially announced (9 August) his departure to Spanish side Mallorca on a season-long loan.

Farke had been keen on Joseph staying, though the 21-year-old had been resolute in moving back to his home country.

His departure is expected to be followed by Bamford’s in the coming weeks.

The former England international was told he wasn’t part of Farke’s first team plans earlier this summer and has been training with the academy.

Bamford and Joseph both not good enough for Leeds

Leeds finally look to be moving away from players who are not good enough for their standard of football.

Last season, in the Championship, Joseph was subpar, so it remains to be seen why Farke was so keen to keep hold of the striker.

At least, when Bamford started at the Peacocks, he was on red-hot form and will leave as someone whose form drifted away.

Now, Farke must start prioritising the signing of a new striker and adding additions up top because Nmecha isn’t going to get all of the goals for Leeds.
