Patrick Bamford is finished at Leeds United after unforgivable shocker v Stoke City

How many more chances is Patrick Bamford going to get at Leeds United?

Since joining the Whites over five years ago, the 30-year-old striker has had just one good season and that was the Yorkshire club’s first back in the Premier League.

It enabled Bamford to essentially smash and grab an England cap before being posted missing for years due to continual injury issues and woeful performances on the pitch.

He made his fifth appearance of the season for Leeds on Wednesday night (25 October) when he came off the bench in the club’s 1-0 defeat away at Stoke City.

Almost straight away, the former Nottingham Forest striker won a penalty for Leeds after a clumsy challenge by Potters ace Ben Pearson.

He dusted himself down and then inexcusably blazed his penalty over the crossbar.

What was he doing?

Bamford’s been awful in front of goal for almost his entire spell at Leeds.

He’s missed so many big chances to score that Opta have probably given up on counting because it’s a really inordinate amount for a striker who’s played in the Premier League and Championship for so long.

We can excuse the injuries because ultimately, that’s not his fault.

But that miss was unforgivable and the fact that Stoke City scored the winning goal just minutes later didn’t just rubn salt in the wounds, it dug Bamford’s grave for him at Elland Road.

Surely Bamford is finished as a Leeds United player now.

There’s no way there’s going to be any kind of comeback from this when Daniel Farke has Joel Piroe, Rutter and Joe Gelhardt to call upon – as well as up-and-coming youngsters in the squad – to play ahead of the impotent striker.

In other Leeds United news, Lee Hendrie was stunned by this baffling Farke decision at Stoke.
