Pascal Struijk drops new Leeds United injury hint ahead of clash v Coventry City

Leeds United continue their Championship campaign with a showdown against Coventry City at Elland Road on Saturday 28 September.

Daniel Farke’s side will be eager to pick up a second consecutive win after last weekend’s commanding display against Cardiff City which saw Largie Ramazani and Joel Piroe find the net in a 2-0 win.

However, the Whites will have to do it without several key players, particularly out wide where both Dan James and Manor Solomon remain sidelined having missed the showdown in South Wales.

However, Farke and his side may have been handed a new boost just hours before the meeting with the Sky Blues after Pascal Struijk took to social media to drop a new hint about his fitness.

Will Pascal Struijk miss Leeds United clash v Coventry City?

Farke confirmed in his pre-match press conference ahead of the meeting with Mark Robins’ side at Elland Road that Struijk was a major doubt having picked up a new injury [Leeds Live, 28 September].

While the suggestion had been that the German would be reluctant to risk the Dutchman unless he was fully fit, the defender appears to have suggested he will at least be in the matchday squad.

Taking to Instagram on Saturday (28 September) the 25-year-old posted a matchday graphic on his story with various pictures of him in action accompanied by the details of the clash with Coventry.

While a single social media post alone doesn’t mean that the defender will 100 per cent play against the Sky Blues, Struijk and other players rarely post these sorts of matchday graphics if they aren’t set to play a part in the clash.

Hopefully, the centre-back hasn’t raised supporters’ hopes just for the fun of it and is instead set to play some role in Saturday afternoon’s contest.

When he can avoid it, Farke is typically keen not to make unnecessary changes to his playing squad between matches and in an ideal world, he would likely name the same XI that beat Cardiff last time out.

It would be a surprise, but maybe the Leeds United boss could do exactly that as he looks to win all three points against the Sky Blues.
