MOT View: Whelan left red-faced with praise for Leeds star who had shocker in 2-0 defeat
Stuart Dallas has played in many different positions already for Leeds United this season.
The 28-year-old has started every single game this season, but injuries in the squad have forced Marcelo Bielsa to play him in the heart of midfield.
Despite a positive start, Dallas has started to look more out of place as each game passes in the Championship – that doesn’t take away from the plaudits he has received already though.
Noel Whelan couldn’t help but heap praise on Dallas, who once again started in midfield against the Owls on Saturday afternoon.
“Everyone puts a shift in, Stuart Dallas, an excellent player, some of his crossfield balls, knowing where the players are,” Whelan told Football Insider.
“He oozes class does Stuart Dallas at the minute for Leeds United and we’re really seeing the benefit of a fully fit, happy Stuart Dallas playing in the Leeds United side.
“There’s more to come from him, we know that that’s for sure.”
The BBC pundit could have been left red-faced though, as the Northern Ireland international had a shocker in the 2-0 defeat.
Bielsa will now have a choice to make for the trip to Queens Park Rangers. With Pablo Hernandez back fit, the experiment with Dallas in midfield must stop immediately.
The 28-year-old had a shocker on Saturday and was a headless chicken for the majority of the 90 minutes. Dallas lost midfield runners like Kieran Lee on numerous occasions, and never got involved in the transitions once in possession.
Dallas is much better either out wide or at full-back like earlier in the season, and his time in midfield has surely come to an end.
