MOT View: Under-23 star should be given Leeds chance on recent form
It has been a great couple of months for Leeds United at every level.
While the first team made it seven wins in-a-row against Hull City with a 2-0 win, the under-23s have been going about their business quietly at the same time.
Carlos Corberan’s side have also started putting together a run in the Professional Development League, and have just dispatched both Sheffield sides to see them earn a spot in the top three in the division.
That has seen Marcelo Bielsa use a number of youngsters in his squad in the two recent Yorkshire derbies against both Hull and Huddersfield Town.
Oliver Casey made his debut for the Whites in the Huddersfield game, and it was Pascal Struijk who was next to earn his first outing for the first team against the Tigers on Tuesday.
With Bielsa’s recent comments about Robbie Gotts – claiming he has shared that he would understand if he wanted to leave due to first-team minutes, it isn’t looking good for some of the other under-23 stars.
Mateusz Bogusz is one name that has grabbed our attention in our recent visits to Thorp Arch, and we believe that he should be the next name to breakthrough at Elland Road.
The Pole did struggle in the Carabao Cup defeat to Stoke City earlier in the season, but he has improved dramatically ever since that.
Bogusz scored against both Sheffield Wednesday and United, with both goals highlighting what he can bring to the first team.
His sublime free-kick against the Blades proved that he would add a massive threat from set-pieces for the Whites. His goal against the Owls saw him start a move on the halfway line and then pop up in the box to finish off the move.
The versatility he has been showing proves how he would add a real threat for the Whites, and we believe he could be the next to step up in the Championship.
