MOT View: Stunning strike from Leeds-linked ace surely proves he is the real deal

Leeds United are understood to be interested in Liverpool starlet Rhian Brewster this summer, and who can really blame them?

According to the Mirror, the Whites are considering making a loan bid for the impressive youngster, and his latest display for the Reds is a surefire sign that he has what it takes to cut it at senior level.

Brewster struck twice in the champions’ 2-2 friendly draw against Salzburg in midweek, and he looked every inch the lethal marksman-in-waiting.

The forward’s shot accuracy in that game was almost 30% higher than Patrick Bamford’s average from last season, as per Wyscout, while his xG was just 0.42.

That means he essentially scored 1.58 goals more than he was expected to against the Austrian club.

His second goal in particular was a real eye-catcher.

As the ball is launched over the top of the defence, Brewster takes the wise decision to hang back a little and see how the scenario plays out.

With Mo Salah chasing, it’s clear that there is the opportunity for something to spill into the acres of space in front of Brewster, and so it proves.

The ricochet of the ball causes it to spin wildly towards Brewster, and full credit to him, he does well to adjust his body shape accordingly.

The net might be open, barring a covering defender, but the technique it takes to strike this ball with the requisite amount of power and still keep it down and on target – especially when it is bouncing awkwardly – is seriously impressive.

But Brewster makes it all look so easy.

His shot nestles in the top bracket, and it’s abundantly clear that this lad was born to score goals.

If Marcelo Bielsa does decide that he wants a little bit more cover up top – and a hugely gifted finisher to boot – a loan move for Brewster would surely be the perfect option.

In other Leeds United news, Bielsa has taken a shine to this midfielder after a 17-assist season.
