MOT View: Promotion could put end to PL giants plans to sign Leeds duo in summer

With success comes interest, and Leeds United have seen a number of their brightest talents gain admirers this season.

Football Insider has reported that Manchester United are interested in making moves for Kalvin Phillips and Ben White in the summer.

The reputable football outlet has claimed that the Whites’ fierce rivals are set to bide their time so that they can continue scouting the pair regularly between now and the end of the season.

The future of White isn’t an immediate concern of Leeds. It has been confirmed that he will remain on loan at Elland Road until the end of the season, and he still remains a Brighton player.

Should Leeds earn promotion, they could look to replicate Aston Villa and Tyrone Mings, by making his move a permanent one, something which could be decided by the player himself.

Marcelo Bielsa would most likely be able to guarantee more first-team football than a top-six Premier League side could to White, and that could put Leeds in the driving seat if he is available.

Phillips, on the other hand, signed a new deal in West Yorkshire at the beginning of the season. The 24-year-old would surely want to stick at his boyhood club should they earn promotion to the Premier League in this campaign.

So, should Leeds finally get over the line and secure promotion this season, they will be in a great position to keep hold of their best players.

The chances of signing White permanently would surely increase at the same time, and that will be added motivation to seal that goal this time around.

Both Phillips and White proved they can mix it with the best against Arsenal on Monday, and that will have made the duo even more fired up to secure promotion this season and potentially face Man United rather than move to them.
