MOT View: Phil Hay update on future of Leeds loanee is huge boost for the club

Jack Harrison has been a superstar-in-the-making this season for Leeds United.

His performances have seen his average match rating go up from 6.61 last season to 7.04 this time around [WhoScored] and he’s also passed the eye test.

Not bad for a player who had to come off social media last season because of abuse from fans.

He’s scored five goals but it could and should have been more.

He’s hit almost every inch of the woodwork this season, including in the last game before lockdown against Huddersfield.

He was a real threat all game and not just out on his normal prowling spot on the left.

36 minutes into the game he came in from the left and hit a beautifully sweet volley that ended up flashing past the left-hand post.

13 minutes into the second half he found himself in the middle and he went on a mazy run past four Huddersfield players.

He hit a beautifully curled shot and was desperately unlucky to see it slam back off the top part of the post.

He’s a player we’re expecting big things from on Sunday.

But we also think there’s plenty of room for further improvement as well in the Premier League.

Leeds have an option to buy him but that would count for nought if Harrison wanted to leave.

Thankfully, the good news is that Athletic journalist Phil Hay talked to the winger this week and said, “[Harrison] said he’d be happy to be here next season. Knows he’s developed well at Leeds.”

That’s a big boost for Leeds who should go on and make his transfer permanent if they can secure promotion to the Premier League.
