Leeds United to avoid Steve Evans sting as Rotherham news drops
Rotherham are still searching for a new manager following last week’s sacking of Matt Taylor but the club are set to steer clear of former Leeds United man Steve Evans.
Since Taylor was relieved of his managerial duties with the Millers last week, rumours have floated around about who may be the one to help Rotherham to Championship safety.
The club are currently sitting 22nd, five points off the foot of the table and four points from safety.

It appeared that Evans, who managed Leeds from October 2015 until the end of the 2015/16 season, was the favourite to be announced as the Millers’ next coach.
According to the Rotherham Advertiser, however, Rotherham are set to explore other avenues and other potential targets are being focused on, such as Gary Rowett and Leam Richardson.

Going back to an ex
Evans has managed at the AESSEAL New York Stadium once before, taking charge between 2012 and 2015. It was love at first sight, as the now-61-year-old enjoyed back-to-back promotions from League Two to the Championship.
So, Millers’ fans will look back at fond memories of when Evans was in charge. However, it can be true that the grass is not always greener on the other side.
Leeds United fans may also have good memories of the manager, who was upset to leave the club in 2016. Pushed out by former club owner Massimo Cellino, it was clear to Evans that other managerial targets were being considered.
Despite that, Evans wanted to stay after such a successful season, taking Leeds out of the relegation zone to a 13th-place finish and producing an Emirates FA Cup run, eventually being knocked out by Watford to reach the quarter-final.
Evans has since gone on to manage Mansfield Town, Peterborough United, Gillingham and Stevenage. He was always going to be a candidate with such a rich history with the Millers, but maybe not the right time to rekindle an old love.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites could be pushing Everton towards the financial abyss with yet another points deduction now on the cards.
