MOT View: Leeds should snap up sculpture offer of key figure if promotion secured

Marcelo Bielsa has already achieved hero-status during his time at Leeds United.

We can only imagine how much that would increase if he was to finally bring the Whites back into the Premier League after nearly 20 years though.

Bielsa has a cult-following already, and the South American is often pictured by fans walking to and from Thorp Arch as well as him doing simple activities such as shopping.

Bielsa could be on his way towards similar status as Don Revie and Howard Wilkinson although there is some way to go towards that. Revie spent 13 years at Elland Road and has a statue outside of the East Stand to show his worth to the club.

Well, Bielsa could be about to get the same treatment. Leeds Live have revealed that lifelong fan Tony Clark is looking to donate his commissioned sculpture of the boss to the club once it arrives from Asia.

“I’m so excited, I just want it here now,” he said.

“All the way through the project I’ve been involved in changing it, tweaking it, and giving them sizes.”

It is uncertain whereabouts the sculpture would go with it being much smaller than the statues of Billy Bremner and Revie, but it would definitely fit right in.

Leeds should definitely snap up the offer from Clark, and if promotion is secured once football resumes, it would be a no-brainer to find a home for the piece.
