MOT View: Leeds must bomb £8.8k/wk player out of club in Jan – Elland Rd career dead & buried

The January window might be shaping up to be a quiet one for Leeds United but we think there will be some outgoings.

One player we can’t wait to see the back of is Ouasim Bouy, who has been draining money from Leeds ever since he signed back in 2017.

He’s never played for Leeds and hasn’t been seen at Thorp Arch in months but is still pocketing his reported £8.8k-a-week salary while his contract runs down.

His four-year deal finally expires in the summer and there won’t be anyone shedding a tear for the 27-year-old when he leaves.

Highly-rated when he signed and a former Morocco international, it seems that Bouy hit the jackpot at Leeds and decided to give up on his career.

His last unsuccessful loan ended in the summer of 2019 and he’s just been twiddling his thumbs since.

It shows how the gamble of offering a long-term deal can backfire, with Bouy coming without a fee and a decent reputation built up by his agent Mino Raiola.

Bouy broke his silence at the start of this year to show that he was still keeping himself fit, on his own in a gym in Amsterdam.

However, we can’t see any club willing to take a chance on him for anywhere near the salary he’s on at Leeds.

There are two ways the club could get rid of him in January – and we’d love to see him bombed out of the club before his contract expires.

The first is to ship him out on a free with subsidised wages.

Even that might be improbable though and if they can’t find a club willing to take a chance on him, Leeds should just pay him off, rip his contract up and forget he was ever signed.
