MOT View: Leeds fans will get chance to scout defender shortlisted by Orta on Saturday

Leeds United fans will personally get the chance to scout SC Freiburg defender Robin Koch on Saturday afternoon as he takes on RB Leipzig.

With the Bundesliga returning behind closed doors at the weekend, BT Sport have confirmed that they will be broadcasting each game as it happens.

That will surely delight all fans, but Leeds fans may use this to their advantage whilst they wait for the Championship to return.

Victor Orta confirmed at the beginning of the year that Koch was a central defender that has been on his shortlist for some time [Yorkshire Evening Post].

The Whites’ director of football did admit that any move for the enforcer would rely on his side gaining promotion to the Premier League this season – something they are in a good spot to do.

Coincidentally, RB Leipzig, the team he will be up against almost completed a move for his services in the January window. That highlights how much competition there may be in the summer.

What will Leeds fans get from watching the Freiburg man closely? Well, they will be looking for a man who could either potentially replace Ben White, or even partner him in the Premier League.

The 23-year-old offers great versatility as well, playing seven times this season in holding midfield – something that will clearly tick boxes for Marcelo Bielsa who has done the same thing with White at times this campaign.

Compared to White, Koch does make more clearances, blocks and is dribbled past fewer times according to WhoScored, in stats which prove they could make a great partnership, not to throw Liam Cooper under the bus.

Saturday will be the perfect opportunity for Leeds fans to scout the defender, with the spotlight of nearly every country firmly set on the Bundesliga and how football returns.
