MOT View: Leeds could be handed boost in pursuit of Douglas Costa

Leeds United have been linked with a summer move for Juventus winger Douglas Costa for a number of months now.

Calciomercato have previously reported that Marcelo Bielsa is a huge fan of the Brazilian, who is currently on loan with Bayern Munich.

It was suggested that the Whites could be about to firm up their interest in the winger in the past few months, and that has been strengthened by the possibility of Premier League survival.

New reports from Calciomercato have suggested that Leeds could be about to be handed a big boost in their reported pursuit.

The Italian outlet have claimed that the 31-cap Brazilian could see his contract resolved despite their being one more year left at Juventus.

In the past year, the Serie A side have let the likes of Mario Mandzukic, Blaise Matuidi, Gonzalo Higuain and Sami Khedira all leave despite having time left on their deals.

One problem could be the huge wages, especially with his £5.2million wages across the year, which adds up to £100,000-a-week.

Costa in, Costa out.

Should Juventus allow Costa to leave in the summer with no transfer fee, it could be the perfect time for the Whites to make a big move.

Helder Costa has struggled this season after a good start, and the rise of Jack Harrison and Raphinha has seen him drop down the pecking order dramatically.

Football Insider have recently reported that the Whites could wave goodbye to their Costa in the summer should a reasonable offer come in.

This potential boost could save Leeds up to £10million, and that can be thrown into the wages that they could hand Costa should he want a new challenge in his career.
