MOT View: Leeds ace has come out of ‘tough’ period and is transformed under Bielsa
There were definitely some question marks over the ability of Leeds United winger Jack Harrison last season.
Many Leeds fans were not convinced that the Manchester City loanee was the player to take the Whites forward, but Marcelo Bielsa put his faith in his ability.
Harrison has paid the South American back massively this season, and Leeds can make his move permanent for £8million in the summer [The Athletic].
It wasn’t always positive at Elland Road though, and Harrison himself admitted that in an interview with ESPN during the lockdown period.
“The most difficult was the reaction from some of the fans. Being in New York and everywhere I’d been, I’d always had positive feedback,” he said.
“Trying to build the mental strength to work a way through that. It was tough, but it only makes you stronger as a player.
“Once you get your head around everything and just focus on yourself and what you have to do, then it makes you stronger, it makes you a better player.”
When you compare Harrison’s performance last season to this, the improvement is clear to see in each and every department.
In two fewer appearances than last season, Harrison has already been involved in five more goals, finding the back of the net once more.
Harrison’s output is also phenomenal, the 23-year-old has averaged more shots on goal per game, but even better, he has doubled the number of key passes he completes in each outing [WhoScored].
The City loanee may have found that period tough, but he has certainly left no room for complaints this season as he looks to make his switch to Elland Road permanent.
