MOT View: Leeds must hope ex-player doesn’t come back to bite with QPR switch reportedly close

Leeds United face QPR away at Loftus Road on Saturday and as the Whites make their dreaded trip to London, a familiar face could be there to welcome them.

The Athletic journalist Phil Hay has reported that Jack Clarke could be a QPR player before this weekend’s action.

Writing on The Athletic’s website, the former Yorkshire Evening Post reported said that Clarke, 19, is poised to join QPR on loan from Tottenham for the rest of the season after having his temporary spell at Elland Road terminated earlier than scheduled.

Spurs signed Clarke from Leeds in a £9.4million deal in the summer and allowed him to re-join the Championship giants on a season-long loan.

However after making just one league appearance since that loan switch back to Leeds, Spurs took the decision to cut short the agreement and find another club for their promising young attacker.

QPR look set to be that club with Hay reporting that Clarke could be officially joined up with the West London outfit before Leeds play against them this weekend.

That could mean that Clarke will have an instant opportunity to prove Leeds and Marcelo Bielsa wrong.

Clarke never really had much of a chance once he was loaned back to Elland Road and was restricted to mainly playing in the Under-23s.

We will never know for sure how good he could have been for the Whites if he played more regularly in the Championship but if he does get into the QPR starting line-up then we might have a better idea.

But let’s hope that he does not come back to bite Leeds this weekend.

Hopefully he won’t be registered in time or whatever just to avoid that fear.

In other Leeds United news, it’s been confirmed that this 27-year-old has left the club on a loan-to-buy basis.
