MOT View: Leeds fans overcome strong measures to show up Hull at KCOM, reported meeting today

Leeds United fans embarrassed Hull City’s support on Saturday when they showed up in their droves at the KCOM Stadium.

In fact, so many Leeds fans turned up that a lot of them were caught sitting in the home sections of the stadium as Marcelo Bielsa’s men won 4-0 against the Tigers.

During the first half, there were some odd scenes as stewards seemed to herd the astray Leeds fans into the away end, sparking a lot of anger among Hull supporters on Twitter.

Hull had warned Leeds fans about buying tickets in the home sections of the KCOM Stadium ahead of the match but that did not stop the visitors from taking over Humberside.

The Hull City Supporters’ Trust have since written to the club asking for an explanation of those events and the Hull Daily Mail has reported that a meeting is set to be held today (Tuesday) between the club and Superstadium Management Company, who manage the KCOM.

Hull went to some pretty extreme lengths to stop Leeds fans from taking over in the way that they did at the weekend.

The Hull Daily Mail also reports that tickets purchased by first-time buyers from outside of the East Yorkshire area were instantly voided.

However that clearly didn’t work based on the hundreds – maybe even thousands – of Leeds fans who overcame those strong measures to make their way into the home ends of the ground.

Hull are a tiny club in comparison to Leeds. You would imagine there are more Leeds United supporters in East Yorkshire and maybe even Humberside itself than there are those who support the Tigers.

Maybe if they made efforts to sell home tickets they wouldn’t have to worry about the Leeds fans who, if anything, did them a financial favour at the weekend.
