MOT View: Leeds can surely take positives from Potter’s shining praise for Ben White

Brighton manager Graham Potter has admitted that there is a possibility Leeds United loanee Ben White could be elsewhere next season.

The 22-year-old has reportedly attracted interest from some of the Premier League’s biggest clubs after impressing under Marcelo Bielsa at Elland Road.

There has been big calls from fans in and around Leeds for the Whites to make this loan move permanent, although that may take a large fee.

Potter himself has been impressed with White but couldn’t give a clear answer when asked about his future, admitting that the Seagulls are aware it could be elsewhere.

“Yeah, obviously he’s been part of the discussion,” he said via the BBC’s Adam Pope.

“We’re aware of how well he’s done & aware if his qualities. As I’ve said before, we would’ve signed him if we were still at our previous club.

“We’re aware of the journey he’s been on & it’s been fantastic with his loan experiences. He’s had a wonderful time at Leeds & at the same time we’re aware of where his future may be.”

Leeds would clearly want to make the move into a permanent one, with Andrea Radrizzani already revealing on his personal Twitter account that he will be making an offer in the summer for the defender.

The Italian owner said that he would ‘top-up’ an offer after a young Leeds fan wrote a letter to the Premier League club offering £15.07 for the defender – generous, we know.

White has been ever-present in the Championship this season and has even been touted for an England call-up alongside teammate Kalvin Phillips.

It’s easy to see why. White is a defender with the close-control and passing ability of a midfielder, Leeds would be lucky to have him as one of their own from next season.
