MOT View: PL rules mean that Ben White could join on second loan but it would limit Leeds

The emergence of Ben White this season at Leeds United has been nothing short of exceptional.

Arriving on loan at Elland Road from Brighton at the start of this season, there was a sense of the unknown – especially with Pontus Jansson leaving the club.

Fast forward almost one year, and memories of Jansson are long gone, and White has become somewhat of a club favourite already.

There have already been strong calls from nearly each-and-every Leeds fan for the club to do all they can to sign the youngster permanently this summer.

Brighton boss Graham Potter has claimed that White is in his plans for next season, but there is strong interest from the likes of Leeds and even Liverpool.

A lot will depend on White himself, and where he wants to play his football next season, something which could see him force a move to Elland Road.

Leeds have recently extended the loan of Jack Harrison rather than exercising the option to buy him permanently, and that could have a big say on any possible move for White too.

The Sun journalist Alan Nixon responded to a Swansea fan on Twitter on Monday, claiming that Premier League clubs can only register two loanees with just one coming from any one club.

He claims that it would be a big problem for Swansea if they are promoted, but it would also affect Leeds massively.

However, with Harrison moving on loan again, it only leaves one spot in the squad.

Ian Poveda definitely had one too many to drink celebrating the title win recently and even claimed in an Instagram video that White was definitely staying in West Yorkshire.

That could happen on loan but it would be much better for Leeds to sign him on a permanent deal and leave that one slot open for any unexpected events that might transpire.
