MOT View: Joe Gelhardt to miss out on spot in Leeds squad v West Ham

Leeds United have made the trip to West Ham United on Monday evening for their latest Premier League clash.

The Whites have been utilising their under-23s squad recently, with numerous injuries having plagued the squad at Elland Road.

Marcelo Bielsa could be set for change this evening though, with the likes of Kalvin Phillips and Rodrigo set to return from their problems.

One who looks set to miss out is Joe Gelhardt.

The exciting striker has been on the bench for every single Premier League match since the 2-0 win over Crystal Palace but has yet to make his senior debut.

Niall Huggins has made that jump, but attacking talents such as Sam Greenwood have had to wait for their chance in the Premier League.

Gelhardt has taken to his personal Instagram account this afternoon, sharing a link to his Twitch streaming account where he was playing Call of Duty.

The only way he could be playing and streaming this game and be in the squad tonight is if this in the team hotel in the build-up to the clash.

We highly doubt that Bielsa would let any of his players be slacking and lounging around on the Xbox or PlayStation.

Gelhardt is on the cusp of his debut.

Patrick Bamford has recently compared him to Wayne Rooney due to his stocky figure and finishing ability, but he may be made to wait.

The under-23s don’t play again for another week, and with huge games against the likes of Chelsea coming up, we doubt we’ll be seeing him at Elland Road.

Rodrigo’s return has arrived at a bad time for his chances, and Gelhardt will need to continue finding the back of the net in the academy.
