MOT View: January signing could be set for extended Leeds role based on transfer report

Rangers have held talks with Leeds United youngster Kamil Miazek and have offered the goalkeeper a contract as they attempt to sign him late in the window, according to Football Insider.

It is suggested that the Polish stopper will be allowed to leave Elland Road by the Whites, with him clearly becoming surplus to requirements in West Yorkshire.

The January signing of Elia Caprile could have forced the 23-year-old out of the club, despite him starting the last under-23s game against Wolves.

Caprile, who arrived from Chievo Verona this month, is now surely set for an extended role in Carlos Corberan’s side should Miazek seal his exit before Friday night’s deadline.

Miazek has featured on the bench many times in the Championship ahead of Illan Meslier, mainly due to the fact that Marcelo Bielsa can only have five loanees in his matchday squads.

Now that Jack Clarke and Eddie Nketiah have been recalled, the permanent signing of Ian Poveda means there is a spot in the squad every week for Meslier.

The 18-year-old Italian keeper could be thrown straight into the deep end on Monday, as the under-23s travel to Hillsborough to face Sheffield Wednesday.

BBC journalist Adam Pope revealed that Caprile has been involved with the first-team as well as the under-23s since his arrival, something that will make him well prepared for the Yorkshire derby on Monday.

With Miazek potentially leaving the club, it opens the door for him to secure his spot in Corberan’s side – something which saw Meslier given a chance against Arsenal in the FA Cup after a string of impressive performances.

A trial date is also approaching for Kiko Casilla’s racism charge with the FA. If the Spaniard is found guilty and handed a ban, Meslier will most likely step up. That will put Caprile on the bench, some exposure that could massively benefit him in his debut season in the Championship.
