MOT View: Imminent Leeds arrival has what it takes to be major PL success story
Leeds United look as if they’ve done it again.
The Whites have enjoyed a busy and high profile transfer window, and it would appear that they are about to add to their spending by snapping up Bayern Munich midfielder Michael Cuisance.
The 21-year-old looks set to become the eleventh player to join Leeds this summer, and what a coup it could turn out to be.
The France youth international is not only coming from the champions of Europe, but he also looks as if he has what it takes to be a major success at Elland Road.
Last season, the youngster managed to record a higher pass completion rate than Mateusz Klich, as well as attempting 6.56 more dribbles per game, as per Wyscout.
Cuisance is a classy distributor with a penchant for ball-carrying, and if he can bring those traits to England, he could quickly establish himself as a fan favourite.
Take his most recent start for Bayern, a 4-0 win over Wolfsburg on the final day of the Bundesliga season last term, as an example.
Cuisance made eight successful passes into the final third in that game while generally operating a more defensive role just in front of the back four.
The fact that he has the vision and talent to be able to play between the lines with such ease and confidence is a majorly promising thing, and is highly reminiscent of Kalvin Phillips’ style of play.
In fact, if we look at Phillips’ equivalent pass map from his performance against Sheffield United at the weekend, we can see that it’s almost identical.
But Cuisance also has it in his locker to really drive his team forward with the ball at his feet too.
The Frenchman made five successful dribbles in that match against Wolfsburg, but what’s more impressive than the figure itself is the distribution of his runs.
Despite playing in a deeper role, we can see that Cuisance is capable of popping up just about anywhere.
We know that above all else, Marcelo Bielsa loves a player with an engine, and by the looks of it the starlet is a busy, hard working talent with a real dollop of quality thrown into the mix.
This could be a very, very exciting signing.
