MOT View: Immense for Leeds U23s – Bielsa must start player with ‘great attitude’ v Newcastle

Pablo Hernandez has done his time and must now be welcomed back into the Leeds United first-team.

He was absolutely immense in his return to action for the Under-23s on Sunday and proved beyond doubt that his attitude is bang on the mark.

Sunday marked his return to action after reacting badly to getting subbed off in the 4-1 defeat against Leicester.

He was dropped for the game against Crystal Palace and then picked up an injury that kept him sidelined, despite his partner tweeting to say he was “Superhealthy” after the Chelsea game.

That got plenty of fans worried but yesterday’s display should put their fears at rest.

It should also mean a start for Hernandez against Newcastle.

The Leeds Under-23s might be top of the league but the first-team is struggling.

It’s been a struggle since Hernandez was subbed off, with just one win since then.

Hernandez is a player who deserves to be in the thick of it in the Premier League.

He was back to his majestic best on Sunday, showing off his range of passing at Thorp Arch, but it was his attitude that we were most impressed by – and it didn’t go unnoticed by fans, either.

It’s not been an easy season for Hernandez so far, after he made such an impact at the tail-end of last season.

And so many players would have gone through the motions for the Under-23s. Hernandez played like he had a point to prove and it won’t have gone unnoticed by Marcelo Bielsa.

If there was an issue, we’d like to think it’s been settled now. Hernandez has proved his fitness, he’s proved his ability and he’s proved his attitude is spot-on.

Now it’s time for him to prove what he can do on the pitch against Newcastle.
