MOT View: How Jack Clarke has done at QPR since Leeds exit

Jack Clarke’s future looked to be a bright one when he burst onto the scene at Leeds United last season.

Marcelo Bielsa handed the 19-year-old attacker his senior debut in October 2018 as he went on to make 25 appearances in all competitions for the Whites and scoring two goals.

Clarke’s form, unsurprisingly, attracted a lot of attention and Tottenham managed to swoop in to sign the youngster in the summer before sending him back to Elland Road on loan.

Unfortunately for Clarke, it just didn’t happen for him during his loan spell at Leeds as he made just one appearance and was recalled by Tottenham in the winter.

Spurs clearly wanted Clarke to continue his development in a first-team setting and it wasn’t long before he was sent back out on loan to the Championship with QPR agreeing a half-season deal.

Clarke made his QPR debut against Leeds when he came off the bench in the Rs’ 1-0 win over the Whites at Loftus Road on January 18.

It looked as though the York-born teenager was going to become a key part of QPR’s first-team but before football was put on hold last month, he had only made three more appearances off the bench.

Clarke has had a season to forget.

He may still have a role to play at Loftus Road but the fact he’s been an unused substitute six times and his longest stint on the pitch being just 28 minutes long, it doesn’t look like that will happen.

Even his performances for QPR – when he does get the chance to shine – have been well short of what Leeds fans were used to last season.

Stats by WhoScored show that Clarke has failed to register a single shot since heading to West London in January.

The winger has completed just one dribble in his four substitute appearances and has never made more than 10 passes in a match.

Clarke does need more chances to show his worth to QPR but when he’s having such little impact of the bench, a spot in Mark Warburton’s starting line-up isn’t going to be up for grabs.
