MOT View: Dyche comments send huge warning to Leeds ahead of Xmas clash

Sean Dyche has highlighted the importance of Burnley’s abilities from set-pieces ahead of their meeting with Leeds United.

As reported by Lancs Live, Dyche praised his side’s efforts from set-pieces: “Set pieces are very important.

“We have been really pleased with our set pieces for a long time here and have had a quiet start to the season but we are looking a threat again, that is for sure.”

During their 2-1 win against Wolves last time out, Chris Wood’s goal came from a set-piece, with Burnley looking closer to their traditional best.

The Clarets have endured a slow start to the Premier League this season, but the impressive win against Wolves comes at a good time for Sunday’s visitors.

Burnley

Concern for Leeds

A fault that was once again highlighted against Manchester United, Leeds simply cannot defend from set-pieces in the Premier League.

Following the heavy defeat at Old Trafford, nine of the 30 goals that Leeds have conceded this season have come from set-pieces, as per WhoScored.

That equates to a worrying 30% of all the goals that Leeds have let in this season.

Meanwhile, according to WhoScored, three of the eight goals Burnley have scored have come from set-pieces.

Burnley, as per WhoScored, also have the third-best record in the entire Premier League for winning aerial duels won during away games this season, which gives you an idea of how Sunday’s game might play out.

The Whites have not been helped by the news that Liam Cooper will be missing against Burnley after yet another injury blow at Elland Road.

This means it could be another makeshift defence that Burnley could look to take advantage of.
