MOT View: Brentford update could hand Leeds major breakthrough in reported pursuit
Leeds United are ready to pull out all of the stops to sign Brentford winger Said Benrahma this summer.
The Bees missed out promotion in the play-offs last month, and Phil Hay has claimed that the Algerian is the one that the Whites want.
The Express has reported that Leeds are ready to cough up £20million in order to win the race for the impressive 25-year-old.
Leeds’ chances seem to be improving by the day.
Benrahma will clearly want Premier League football after getting so close last season, and Brentford could be about to bring in a potential replacement.
Expressen have reported that the Bees are on the verge of signing Amiens winger Saman Ghoddos.
The Swedish winger was close to moving to London last year, but could now make the switch to the English capital 12 months later, potentially leaving space for Benrahma to leave.
This latest update could put Victor Orta into action.
Orta will be keen to please Marcelo Bielsa, who has enjoyed what he has seen from Benrahma in the past couple of seasons.
The 25-year-old was the best player in the Championship last season according to WhoScored, finishing with an average match rating of 7.51 – Leeds’ best was Luke Ayling with a 7.26.
It has been claimed that Orta believes he can secure Benrahma for between £12million and £15million, and if so that would be a bargain.
Should Brentford complete a move for Ghoddos, it would be a major breakthrough for the Whites and could kickstart their move for the Bees’ superstar.
