MOT View: Bielsa could make huge mistake based on new report, he must listen to Leeds colleagues

Marcelo Bielsa has reportedly stunned the Leeds United squad by ordering them to continue training as normal throughout the coronavirus-enforced suspension of the EFL.

According to the Daily Mail, some teams have allowed their players to have 10 days off after it was confirmed on Friday that football in the top-four tiers of England will be suspended for the rest of March.

However it is understood that Bielsa has left some of his players and staff members baffled by deciding to continue training as usual at Thorp Arch.

By now, we all know what Bielsa is like.

He pushes his players to the limit and there have been a lot of stories about how gruelling his training sessions are, especially during the pre-season.

While his behind-the-scenes methods have proven their worth with Leeds sitting top of the Championship table, now is not the time for him to be doing this.

The Daily Mail claims that some of Leeds’ medical staff have questioned Bielsa’s decision to continue calling on his players to come into training each day as normal.

And when Europe is the epicentre of a worldwide pandemic, it is time to start listening to those in the medical profession more than ever.

Let’s say there are 50 people turning up to training at Thorp Arch, including players and staff.

It could take one person among that to have this virus and pass it onto others, creating a huge problem for Leeds.

Reports have said that up to 70 per cent of the population could be hit by the coronavirus, meaning that it’s likely that more and more footballers will catch it in the coming days, weeks and maybe months.

It’s not the time for Bielsa to be pushing his players to the limit in training, it’s time for him to listen to medical experts and not risk the health of everyone at Thorp Arch.

In other Leeds United news, Robbie Savage has hit out at this idea that would hurt the Whites’ promotion bid.
