MOT View: BBC pundit praise for Leeds ace could be too little too late based on recent report
Despite making his first Championship start against Birmingham, Leeds United will likely be without Eddie Nketiah after January.
The Athletic journalist Phil Hay revealed on Tuesday morning that sources have indicated that the 20-year-old will return to the Emirates Stadium early in the transfer window.
Whites fans will get once last chance to see him in action though, with Nketiah likely to be involved against West Brom on Wednesday evening.
Noel Whelan recently heaped praise on the Arsenal loanee for his performance against the Blues, claiming he deserved a big well done for his efforts.
“It’s his first start, I think he worked hard, you could see that he didn’t really have a lot to feed off in the first half, to be honest with you, some of the balls weren’t the best to him,” the BBC pundit told Football Insider.
“I can’t fault his work rate because I thought he was excellent – chasing, doing things that people thought he couldn’t do. He really put a shift in and considering it was his first start, away from home, difficult conditions, difficult pitch, I’ve got to say a big well done.”
The praise from Whelan could certainly count for nothing though, with it definitely potentially being too little too late though.
It was a decision that was forced upon Marcelo Bielsa, and should Patrick Bamford be fully fit for the trip to West Brom on Wednesday, he will go straight back into the side.
