MOT View: Augustin posts footage that will give fans hope if striker does sign for Leeds
Jean-Kevin Augustin posted a rare tweet over the weekend, slamming a rumour that was going around that he’d been hospitalised after taking laughing gas.
And he followed that up today with an Instagram story that shows he’s working hard and getting his body ready for his next club.
That could still be Leeds. Leeds and RB Leipzig are in dispute over the striker, with the Bundesliga side claiming an obligation kicked in when Leeds were promoted.
Leeds didn’t extend Augustin’s loan after he failed to start a game and spent a lot of his loan period injured.
One Leeds fan noticed the Instagram story and said, “Augustin looking in fine shape on Instagram this morning, shame injuries and whatever else went on behind closed doors stopped this from working out. could have been some player.”
Of course, we’ve seen this before.
Leeds United themselves tweeted out footage of an impressive Augustin workout during lockdown as the striker tried to get into shape for the restart of the season.
He didn’t manage to do that and ended up picking up another hamstring injury that signalled the end of his loan move.
Regardless of what happens, we’re happy to see Augustin working hard.
Caught in between the two clubs, this can’t be an easy time for the French striker.
If his Leeds career is over before it really started, we hope that he finds a new club where he can get his career back on track.
His body might not be able to take Bielsa’s murderball but he’s still a talented striker whose career has slipped off the tracks.
If there’s any victim n the unfortunate saga, it’s him.
