Mateo Joseph must start for Leeds United to combat Luton Town

Daniel Farke should replace Brendan Aaronson with Mateo Joseph to help Leeds United combat Luton Town’s five-back formation.

The Whites welcome the recently relegated side to Elland Road on Wednesday 27 November with a view to reclaiming a spot at the top of the Championship.

The Hatters will represent a tough test, despite currently sitting 16th in the table, after winning their last game against Hull City.

Rob Edwards’ side operates with three centre-backs and wing-backs which could frustrate Farke’s side and that could point towards a tactical tweak being a good idea.

A move to have more attacking impetus at Elland Road could be a wise plan given how difficult Luton could make things.

Against Hull, they created fewer chances and had far less possession but were able to grab a goal and keep a clean sheet to help secure all three points.

Given the attacking talents that the Whites boast, there is no reason why Edwards wouldn’t utilise this approach against Leeds.

This could make things difficult for Aaronson to create and as a result, replacing the American with Joseph could be an attacking boost after he was benched at Swansea.

The Spaniard’s pace in behind the Hatters’ defence could cause issues which may afford Piroe more freedom in and around the box if he starts in a deeper role.

Add to this the impact that the likes of Wilfried Gnonto and Dan James from the wings and the Whites should be able to breach a tough Luton backline.
