Marcelo Bielsa was right about Leeds United loanee Cody Drameh

During the hectic Christmas and New Year period, Leeds United found themselves with a squad so thin that only eight or nine senior players could play some games.

As a result, some of the fresh, young talent at Elland Road was thrown into the limelight and asked to play against some of the best teams the Premier League has to offer.

One of those who stood up to the test admirably was right-back Cody Drameh and then manager Marcelo Bielsa wanted him to stay in LS11 for the remainder of the season when he left to join Cardiff City on loan [Sky Sports].

The 20-year-old is currently proving the Argentine correct in South Wales as he turned in another top performance last night as the Bluebirds came from behind to beat Stoke City in the Championship.

Wales Online rated the Leeds loanee as the game’s “star man” with a 9/10 rating.

“This lad is special, frightening, even. Was on it from minute one and caused Stoke all sorts of bother all night. Played a key part in Hugill’s goal,” they said about his performance last night.

Bielsa may have a wry smile on his face when hearing this glowing praise for the 20-year-old but with Luke Ayling fit, the right decision was still made in hindsight.

New manager Jesse Marsch will certainly be taking note of Drameh’s progress in the Welsh capital as Steve Morison’s Bluebirds pick up form and pull themselves towards a mid-table finish.

The American seems to take a keen interest in the youth setup at Thorp Arch having been in attendance for the Under-23s epic 3-0 win over Manchester United on Tuesday evening.

You would assume that Drameh is very much in his plans for next season regardless of Ayling’s form or injury status.

In other Leeds United news, John Cross has dropped a big hint regarding one Whites player and a potential England call-up.
