Marathe ‘to seal sensational James McAtee transfer at Leeds’ as rivals pull out

Manchester City playmaker James McAtee would be quite a statement signing for Leeds United in the ongoing transfer window.

Paraag Marathe has promised to back Daniel Farke this summer after achieving Premier League promotion, and the 22-year-old could potentially help the Whites avoid immediate relegation.

McAtee has emerged as a target at Elland Road, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him leave the Cityzens after struggling for regular game time.

The West Yorkshire outfit have now been handed a massive boost in their pursuit of the English midfielder’s signature.

Leeds United get McAtee transfer boost as VfB Stuttgart drop out

VfB Stuttgart have dropped out of the race for McAtee due to Man City’s asking price, according to Kicker.

The news outlet reports (9 June) that the Sky Blues want a little over £16million for the 22-year-old this summer, something the Bundesliga outfit aren’t willing to pay.

This gives Marathe an opportunity to seal a sensational transfer for one of the most highly-regarded youngsters in the Premier League.

Leeds must build a competitive squad for the upcoming campaign, and the English playmaker would undoubtedly be a statement addition at Elland Road.

McAtee transfer from Man City should be prioritised by Leeds

Brenden Aaronson was Farke’s go-to number 10 this season, but the Whites could arguably do with an upgrade for the USA international.

The West Yorkshire outfit have lost some depth in the engine room and should prioritise signing midfielders in the ongoing transfer window.

Joe Rothwell’s loan spell at Elland Road was fruitful, but the Englishman won’t be part of the Peacocks’ squad for next season unless Bournemouth sanctions his return.

Josuha Guilavogui’s short-term stint at Leeds will conclude soon, undoubtedly leaving Farke short on options in the middle of the park.

McAtee would seemingly fit in perfectly at the West Yorkshire outfit, considering the German manager’s attacking approach.

The Whites should add more creativity and threat to their squad this summer, and the Man City youngster has shown a keen eye for goal in recent months.

Spending £16m on a player of the 22-year-old’s calibre is arguably a no-brainer, and 49ers Enterprises should show their ambition with his transfer.
