Lukas Nmecha to feel left out as Adam Underwood prepares new Leeds United contracts
Lukas Nmecha has exceeded expectations since signing for Leeds United as a free agent last summer.
When the Germany international moved to the Whites, the Elland Road faithful didn’t have much hope from the former VfL Wolfsburg ace, who struggled with injuries during his time at the Volkswagen Arena.
The 27-year-old joined the West Yorkshire outfit on a two-year contract, showcasing that they may have had their doubts about him.
However, the centre-forward now surely warrants extended terms despite some fitness struggles with the Peacocks in the current campaign after scoring some important goals in LS11.

Leeds United to offer Pascal Struijk, Ethan Ampadu, Ilia Gruev and Brenden Aaronson new contracts
Leeds plan to open contract talks with Ethan Ampadu and three other key first-team players in the summer.
TEAMtalk reported on 13 February that the Whites’ skipper, Pascal Struijk, Ilia Gruev and Brenden Aaronson are all in line for new deals, with Adam Underwood making preparations at Elland Road.
The quartet will enter the final year of their contracts at the end of the season, and it would undoubtedly make sense for the Whites to secure their futures.
Joel Piroe and Nmecha are the two others in a similar situation, but with the Suriname international seemingly not in Daniel Farke’s plans, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him leave in the coming months.
As for the former Wolfsburg ace, he will surely feel left out if his future isn’t on the agenda for the hierarchy after putting in some impressive performances for the West Yorkshire outfit since signing.
The Peacocks should also hold talks to extend the German centre-forward’s terms in LS11, but only time will tell what the future holds for him.
Elland Road in line for four exits after 2025-26 season
Karl Darlow has been a key player for Leeds in recent fixtures after Farke decided to drop Lucas Perri from the starting lineup, but the Wales international is set to be a free agent at the end of the season.
Alex Cairns is the Whites’ other goalkeeping option in the final year of his contract at the Whites, with Illan Meslier also in the same boat.
Sam Byram extended his deal with the West Yorkshire outfit for another year after they won the Championship title, but the English defender has been surplus to requirements in the current campaign.
With the four players about to become free agents, Farke may be in for an overhaul in the Peacocks’ defence soon.
