Lukas Nmecha the winner at Leeds United amid injury latest before Aston Villa clash

Leeds United are preparing for a trip to face Aston Villa on Saturday.

Villa Park will play host to Daniel Farke’s side in their next Premier League outing after both sides faced FA Cup commitments over the weekend.

The Whites secured a penalty shootout victory against Birmingham City, while Unai Emery and Co. were eliminated from the competition.

The Midlands outfit fell to a home defeat against Newcastle United, and Leeds will be hoping for a similar result in their upcoming visit.

Injury problems arose at St Andrews for the Yorkshire side, something which could work out well for Lukas Nmecha in LS11.

Leeds face four injury concerns for Villa Park trip

The FA Cup clash at St Andrews’ last time around was far from a vintage performance from the Yorkshire outfit.

They did eventually get the job done when Lucas Perri made a penalty save before Sean Longstaff scored the eventual winner.

Farke’s side didn’t come away from the clash unscathed, however, with Noah Okafor going off with a suspected thigh injury.

There is a lack of detail about his issue at this stage, with Farke suggesting after the cup outing that he hopes the Swiss forward will be “ok for the next game.”

The summer signing has joined Dan James, Pascal Struijk and Anton Stach on the sidelines at Thorp Arch, with the latter potentially set to return at Villa Park.

It is the former AC Milan star who fans will be sweating on most, but Nmecha could seek to benefit if he misses out.

Lukas Nmecha could start vs Aston Villa

The German striker scored a stunner in the Midlands last time around and will be keen to replicate that in the Premier League.

If Okafor is to be missing through injury, Nmecha will be waiting in the wings to pick up his 21st league appearance of the campaign for the Whites.

He already has six goals and one assist and could add to that if he is to feature alongside Dominic Calvert-Lewin against the Villans.

His average of one aerial duel victory per 90 could be a useful attribute, especially against a less physical option like Pau Torres if he is to start for Villa.

Although it may prove to be a blow to lose Okafor after such a positive run, it could prompt a new dawn for Nmecha in LS11.

Leeds need their fringe players to step up and make a difference when they get the chance, and this could prove to be the perfect opportunity for the forward.
